Regional distributor Epicsoft Asia has confirmed that the SEGA Genesis Mini officially lands in Southeast Asia on 19 September.
Pricing for the console, which costs US$79.90 (S$108) in the US, will be S$119.90 for local customers.
In a news release, SEGA's executive manager Miyazaki Hiroyuki said: "I am really excited to have the opportunity of the SEGA Genesis Mini launch in Asia. SEGA Genesis Mini is not only a game console, but also brings back great memories of SEGA's history. I hope every Genesis fan, SEGA fan and gamers in general can love this new retro game machine."
SEGA shipped the Genesis, also known as the Mega Drive, in the late '80s. It was their third gaming console and while it couldn't keep up with Nintendo's efforts, it was the platform that ultimately birthed Sonic The Hedgehog.
As for the other games of its era? Well, check those out below.
The SEGA Genesis Mini is the company's first foray into a retro console fad that began with (once again) Nintendo. Sized at about 55-per cent smaller than the original, it will have replica ports, a sliding volume control and two USB-connected controllers. Game save states will be available, and a HDMI cable is included in the package.
Pre-loaded on the device are 42 classic SEGA Genesis games:
Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
Alisia Dragoon
Altered Beast
Beyond Oasis
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
Castlevania: Bloodlines
Columns
Comix Zone
Contra: Hard Corps
Darius
Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
